The Epiphany Choir consists of volunteer singers from
the congregation and professional section leaders, making
up 15-20 musicians in all. Some choir members are skilled
on other musical instruments as well.
The choir leads the congregation in hymns and service
music and sings offertory and communion anthems at the 11:00
liturgy for the duration of the choir season, which runs
from Labor Day to the Trinity Sunday in June. Special highlights
of the choir year include the annual Christmas concert,
Ash Wednesday Liturgy, a sung Passion on Good Friday, and
a Festival Eucharist with orchestra on Easter morning.
The choir’s repertoire encompasses a wide variety
of styles, including motets by the master composers, arrangements
of folk tunes and spirituals, and anthems by composers carrying
on the tradition of Anglican church music in the present
day.
Regular rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:30
to 9:30. Anyone interested in joining the Epiphany Choir
is encouraged to contact the Music Director. |
